Cyprus to contribute to global alien search 29/07/2015
The Cyprus Space Exploration Organisation (CSEO) will soon be in a position to contribute to world efforts for the detection of extraterrestrial intelligent life.
President of the CSEO, George Danos, told the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) that the CSEO and the SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) Institute in the US, have entered into a collaboration and the Organisation will soon start to contribute to their research from Cyprus.
“The CSEO will contribute to SETI’s efforts for the detection of “intelligent signals”, in other words signals that indicate that they are artificial and originate from an intelligent civilisation”, he said.
Danos said the effort to detect such electromagnetic signals began in 1896 by Nikola Tesla and was intensified in 1980 with the establishment of the Planetary Society by Carl Sagan.
